When we first started travelling and were browsing through the shelves of a tourist store – the type that sells every odd thing you can’t possibly imagine – we came across an innocuous-looking little tin box with a bright green label that read “50 Things To Do Once In A Lifetime”. Thinking it sounded like a bit of fun and possibly some inspiration for our travels, we purchased it, and promptly tucked it away without opening it. Now, some five months later, we pulled it out again and decided to see what magical suggestions it contained.
We were somewhat surprised initially at the simplicity of some of the suggestions, until it once again hit us that it’s all those small moments (and some big ones) that make up the memories we treasure most from our travels so far. As we looked through the list, we thought 50 things is really not that big a number in the scheme of things, and not particularly challenging to do over a lifetime. So we decided we’d modify the rules, and created “52 Things To Do This Year”.
What we’d like to do is encourage everybody – whether you’re travelling or not, living in a house or a caravan – to join us! Every week for 52 weeks, starting in the first week of the New Year, we aim to add to our memories by ticking off one activity from the list. Set out below is our list in no particular order. If you haven’t already, make sure you subscribe to our weekly newsletter to stay up-to-date with our weekly quest and hints on how you can complete your own quest.
If you’re joining us on our quest, we’d love you to share your pics on our Facebook page, and if you’re all over Twitter and Instagram, post them there as well using the hashtag #52things.
For any people or businesses that can help us and our fellow adventurers in our quest, email us at info@thejuniornomads.com.au or contact us on Facebook.
We’re looking forward to sharing our quest with you!

What a great idea! I love that giving blood is on your list. It is such an amazing act of generosity and I’ve seen how huge a difference it can make to a person’s life at the receiving end. I aim to give blood as often as I can, but it is a bit more difficult trying to arrange that from the road.
Look forward to following your hashtag!
