It’s always wonderful to meet other travellers, swapping stories and future plans, and it’s especially so when they’re our age! This afternoon we met Bec Skinner and her beautiful travel companion, a black staffy called Jack. Bec and Jack have been on the road (this time around!) for only 10 days, but previous travels have taken them all the way from Perth in WA to where we currently are in Tathra, NSW.
Jack is still getting used to life on the road, and while travelling over Christmas can be difficult with a furry companion, Bec admits she wouldn’t have it any other way and couldn’t imagine travelling without him. Always ready for a cuddle and keen to seek out other guests, Jack proved decidedly shy the minute a camera appeared, though we were lucky enough to snap some shots while he relaxed on the bed inside their home. Purchased nearly six months ago from a French couple who had already travelled Australia, it was great to see a van with such a strong history continuing on its travels. One of our favourite additions? The hanging net clothes storage on the roof inside – both Susie and Bec agree that it beats ironing any day, and would probably be a great addition to a kids room!
The map of Australia takes pride of place on the roof of the van, and with her Waeco CFX50 handy, along with another travel favourite – two minute noodles! – Bec has all the basics she needs and her best friend by her side – truly, what more could you ask for in life? Enjoy your travels, Bec and Jack, we might see you at the top end some day!
