A great product from Aussie Traveller which we use every single stop when the awning is out is the Anti Flap Kit. A lot of people (like us) go out and purchase a couple of cheap Velcro anti flap kits from their local BCF or caravan supply store. However, we quickly realised that these just do not cut it in stronger winds, with the Velcro snapping or the grip on the awning just not lasting. They also only grip onto one spot on the awning which stretches that spot over time.
The Anti Flap Kit (AFK) from Aussie Traveller is one of the best and most used accessories we have. They are lightweight, strong and very simple to use, and only takes a minute to insert both at each end when the awning is rolled out.
The Anti Flap Kit was designed and produced to satisfy specific customer needs:
- Prevent wind flap.
- Adding walls to roll out awnings in a quick and easy manner which results in a wind and waterproof seal between the edge of the roof fabric and the wall. This had never been achieved before and has revolutionised the way caravanners and motorhomers with rollout awnings enjoy the outside areas of their RV.
Sizes/Lengths
Anti Flap Kits are supplied as a pair and come in 3 sizes (lengths) determined by your awning fabric projection:
- Short: 2100mm – 2200mm
- Medium: 2200mm – 2300mm
- Long: 2300mm – 2400mm
If your awning falls outside of the ranges shown above, contact Aussie Traveller directly, as Anti Flap Kits can be modified to suit almost any projection on request.
How It Works
The AFK breaks down to 4 individual sections (2 pieces per end), which when joined together, form a full-length
clamp. This full-length clamp fixes to the awning fabrics outside edge and helps prevent wind flap and includes a roll track to accept walls. The AFK has two inbuilt sail tracks so that walls can be hung quickly and easily, or an external fly awning fitted as well as walls.
Anti Flap Kits are so easy to install and use, and lightweight, so if you’re travelling as a couple, the missus will find it just as easy to use and install. All necessary fittings and usage instructions are included in the kit. We noticed the difference in noise from the very first fitting, and our formerly sleepless nights listening to the flapping, or having to roll up the awning to prevent it, are long gone.
